Kit Assembly

Form ID: (IN307000)

This form is available only if the Kit Assembly feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.

On this form, you can create and view kit assembly documents. You can select the operation performed on stock kits (production or disassembly), the warehouse where the operation is performed, the revision of the kit specification, and a variety of other factors. The kit assembly document includes the required stock components with their quantities and costs calculated in accordance with the kit specification revision you specify.

If the specification allows component quantity variance, you can change the quantity of the component in the specified range. If the revision allows addition of components, you can add components to record all stock items included and relevant costs incurred in the process of kit production or disassembly. Also, for kits that as stock items require assigning lot or serial numbers, you can provide this information by using the Line Details tab.

This form shows different sets of elements and table columns depending on which of the following features are enabled in your system: Lot and Serial Tracking, Multiple Warehouses, and Multiple Warehouse Locations.

The form toolbar includes standard buttons and form-specific buttons and commands. For the list of standard buttons, see Form Toolbar and More Menu. The form-specific commands can be shown as buttons on the form toolbar, as commands on the More menu, or in both places. These commands are listed in the following table in alphabetical order.

Command Description
Hold Changes the status of the kit assembly document to On Hold. You click this button when you want to make changes to the kit assembly document or to pause its processing.
Release Releases the kit assembly document, updates the availability data for items that are kits or kit components, and generates a batch of transactions to update the General Ledger.
Remove Hold Changes the status of the kit assembly document from On Hold to Open. You click this button when the kit assembly document is ready for further processing.
Review Batch Navigates to the Journal Transactions (GL301000) form so you can view the details of the batch.

In this area, you select an existing document that records kit production or disassembly, or you provide summary information for a new document.

Element Description
Type The type of operation to be performed for this kit. You can select one of the following options:
  • Assembly: The document records kit assembly or production.
  • Disassembly: The document records kit disassembly.
Reference Nbr. The unique reference number of the kit assembly document, which the system automatically assigns according to the numbering sequence specified for kit assembly documents on the Inventory Preferences (IN101000) form.
Status The current status of the kit assembly document. The following options are available:
  • On Hold: The document is a draft, can be edited manually, and cannot be released.
  • Balanced: The document is ready to be released. A document with Balanced status can be modified or deleted.
  • Released: The document has been released. Documents with this status cannot be edited or deleted.
Date The date when the kit assembly document was created. All transactions based on this document will have this transaction date.
You can enter only a date that corresponds to a financial period that has been generated on the Master Financial Calendar (GL201000) form. If the date that you enter belongs to a financial period that has not yet been generated in the system—for example, for a date in the distant future or past—the system will display an error message, and you will not be able to save the record.
Post Period The financial period to which the transactions from the document should be posted.
Inventory ID The identifier of the kit as an inventory item. When you’re selecting an existing kit for viewing or modification, you can select from only the items marked as kits on the General tab of the Stock Items (IN202500) or Non-Stock Items (IN202000) form.
Revision The revision of the kit specification used for the kit assembling or disassembling.
Subitem The subitem code of the kit as an inventory item.
This column is available only if the Inventory Subitems feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
The Inventory Subitems check box has been removed from the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form because the functionality associated with the Inventory Subitems feature will be phased out. If you have this feature enabled in your system, the associated functionality remains available. To disable the feature, contact your Acumatica support provider.
Reason Code The reason code used to record the cost variance—that is, the difference between the kit’s cost and the cost of the disassembled kit’s components—that occurs when the kit is disassembled. The cost variance is recorded to the reason code’s account.
This box is required if the type of operation is Disassembly.
Requested On The date when the kit assembly is due. The default value is the current business date.
If a user creates the kit assembly document by using the Create Kit Assemblies dialog box of the Inventory Planning Display (AM400000) form, the system populates the Requested On box with the plan date from the Create Kit Assemblies dialog box. The user can modify this date according to their allocation needs.
Description A brief description of the kit assembly document.
Warehouse The warehouse where the assembly or disassembly is performed.
This column appears only if the Multiple Warehouses feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
Location The location where the assembly or disassembly is performed.
This column appears only if the Multiple Warehouse Locations feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.)
UOM The unit of measure used for the kit.
Quantity The quantity of the kits assembled or disassembled.
For the kit, if the Divisible Unit check box is cleared for the base UOM on the Stock Items (IN202500) form, the system validates the value in this box as you type it, making sure that it is an integer. If it is not an integer, an error message is displayed, and you cannot assemble or disassemble the kit.

On this tab, you can view all the components required to assemble the specified number of kits, or all the components that will become available after disassembly of the specified number of kits. Components are listed in accordance with the selected revision of the kit specification, as defined on the Stock Components tab of the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form. If the Allow Component Addition check box is selected for the revision, you can add components. For components for which lot or serial numbers are traced, you can provide this information.

Table Toolbar

The table toolbar includes standard buttons and buttons that are specific to this table. For the list of standard buttons, see Table Toolbar. The table-specific buttons are listed below.

Button Description
Line Details Opens the Line Details dialog box so you can specify how the quantity of this specific component is split between subitems, locations, lot/serial numbers, and expiration dates for the component.
This button is available if at least one of the following features is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form: Multiple Warehouse Locations, Inventory Subitems, or Lot Serial Tracking.
The Inventory Subitems check box has been removed from the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form because the functionality associated with the Inventory Subitems feature will be phased out. If you have this feature enabled in your system, the associated functionality remains available. To disable the feature, contact your Acumatica support provider.

Table Columns

Column Description
Inventory ID The inventory ID of this kit component.
Subitem The subitem code of the kit component.
This column is available only if the Inventory Subitems feature has been enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.

Location The warehouse location where the component is stored. The system populates the Location box by copying the value specified in the Default Receipt To box on the Item Warehouse Details (IN204500) form.
This column is available only if the Multiple Warehouse Locations feature has been enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
UOM The unit of measure of this stock item added as a component of the kit.
Quantity The actual quantity of this stock item added as a kit component. For the Production type of operation, you can change the quantities of the component only if quantity variance is allowed for it on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form, which is determined by the Allow Component Qty. Variance check box. For the Disassembly type of operation, the quantity of the component is not validated.
For each component, if the Divisible Unit check box is cleared for the base UOM on the Stock Items (IN202500) form, the system validates the quantity of the item in the column: It makes sure that the quantity is an integer and displays an error message if it is not.
Unit Cost The cost of the base unit of this stock item serving as a component of the kit.
Reason Code The reason code used to record the cost variance of the stock item added as a kit component.
The reason code is required if the Production option is selected in the Type box in the Summary area, the quantity of the stock item in the line exceeds the on-hand quantity, and over-issue is allowed for this item—that is, if the Allow Negative Quantity check box is selected on the Item Classes (IN201000) form for the item's class. When the over-issued quantity of the item is received in stock, the reason cost's account is used to record the cost variance.
Description The description provided for the stock item.
Component Qty. A read-only column that shows the quantity of this stock item added as a kit component, as defined on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form.
UOM A read-only column displaying the unit of measure (UOM) used for the stock item added as a kit component, as defined by the kit specification.
Allow Component Qty. Variance A check box that indicates (if selected) that the component quantity may be increased or decreased.
This read-only setting was specified on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form.
This column is available for only an operation of the Production type.
Min. Component Qty. A read-only column that displays the minimum quantity of the component that can be added to the kit, as defined by the kit specification.
This column is available for only an operation of the Production type.
Max. Component Qty. A read-only column showing the maximum quantity of the component that can be added to the kit, as defined by the kit specification.
This column is available for only an operation of the Production type.
Allow Component Substitution A check box that indicates (if selected) that the components can be substituted by another stock item.
This read-only setting was specified on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form.

Line Details Dialog Box

By using this dialog box, you can view how the specified on the line quantity of the item is distributed between locations, subitems, and lot or serial numbers, or you can generate and assign lot/serial numbers to the specified quantities of the stock item if relevant or you can assign warehouse locations for the specified quantities of the item or assign subitems. Whether lot or serial numbers should be generated when the item is received or used depends on the Assignment Method option selected for the lot/serial class of the item on the Lot/Serial Classes (IN207000) form.

This dialog box is available if at least one of the following features is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form: Multiple Warehouse Locations, Inventory Subitems, or Lot Serial Tracking.

The Line Details dialog box includes the following elements.

Element Description
Unassigned Qty. The quantity of the inventory item that has no location specified or lot or serial numbers assigned.
Quantity to Generate The quantity of the inventory item for which lot or serial numbers should be generated.
Start Lot/Serial Number The lot or serial number to be used as a start number.
This box appears only if the Lot and Serial Tracking feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
Generate A button that you click to initiate the generation of lot or serial numbers.
This button appears only if the Lot and Serial Tracking feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
The dialog box includes a table with the following columns.
Subitem The subitem for the inventory item received, if subitems are used in your system.
This column is available only if the Inventory Subitems feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
The Inventory Subitems check box has been removed from the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form because the functionality associated with the Inventory Subitems feature will be phased out. If you have this feature enabled in your system, the associated functionality remains available. To disable the feature, contact your Acumatica support provider.
Location The location in the warehouse.
This column appears only if the Multiple Warehouse Locations feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
Lot/Serial Nbr. The serial number of the unit of inventory item or the lot number of the quantity of inventory item received.
This column appears only if the Lot and Serial Tracking feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
Quantity The quantity of the inventory item with the same subitem code and the same lot number. It is 1 for items with serial numbers.
UOM The unit of measure (UOM) for the specified quantity of the inventory item.
Expiration Date The expiration date of the specified quantity of the inventory item.
This column appears only if the Lot and Serial Tracking feature is enabled on the Enable/Disable Features (CS100000) form.
The dialog box has the following button.
OK Saves the records generated.

The Non-Stock Components tab displays the components that define additional costs for the kit to be assembled or disassembled, in accordance with the selected revision of the kit specification. You can add components only if component addition is allowed for this kit revision.

The table toolbar includes only standard buttons. For the list of standard buttons, see Table Toolbar.

Table Columns

Column Description
Inventory ID The inventory item of this kit component.
UOM The unit of measure of this non-stock item added as a component of the kit.
Quantity The actual quantity of the non-stock item as a kit component. For operations of the Production type, you can change the quantities of the component only if quantity variance is allowed for it on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form. For operations of the Disassembly type, the quantity of the component is not validated.

Min. Component Qty. A read-only column displaying the minimum quantity of the component that can be added to the inventory kit, as defined on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form.
This column is available for only an operation of the Production type.
Max. Component Qty. A read-only column that shows the maximum quantity of the component that can be added to the inventory kit, as defined on the Kit Specifications (IN209500) form.
This column is available for only an operation of the Production type.

On the Line Details tab, you specify how the total quantity of kits produced or disassembled (according to this document) is split by subitem, lot or serial number, or expiration date. For new kits, this information is specified only if these numbers are to be assigned on production.

This tab displays the reference number and branch of the batch generated upon release of the kit assembly document.

Element Description
Batch Nbr. The reference number of the batch generated for the kit assembly document. Click the number to open the Journal Transactions (GL301000) form, and you can view the transactions' details.
Branch The branch for which the kits have been assembled.
Currency The currency ID of a base currency.This box appears only if the Multiple Base Currency feature is enabled.
